"Nidaros" now is the official name of the Parliment only. Trondhjem[underlined]
is the name of the Norwegian people and of the inhabitants of the
beautiful city.

The stone is taken from our ancient cathedral, as first completed
in 1328 but later on destroyed by fire and damaged by different dis-
asters. For about half a century it has now been re-built and last
summer the whole interior was completed and consecrated.

Trondhjem has a firm position as you will see from one of the
pictures in the book, and is often compared to Napolis in Italy. The
population is nearly 60,000-- the third biggest town in Norway. (Oslo,
250,000, Bergen 80,000.)

Trondhjem is a fine place for winter sports and the people here
from 4 years to 80 yeard of age are skiing whenever they have the
opportunity--and the opportunity they always have in the months of
January, February, and March.

The climate is quite good, thanks to the Gulf Stream! We may grow
tomatoes on free land! The air is clean and healthy.

Our Rotary Club has 50 members and is the most norther Rotary[underlined]
Club in the world[underlined]!!

With all good wishes to the members of your club and hoping to
hear from you about the safe arrival of the stone, I am,

Rotarily yours,
Gunnar Stabell
President.
