Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

In a true poetic sense, Longfellow was not considered a great poet, by some critics. Yet his verse has an heart appeal which makes his poems read and loved by all races. Perhaps no one poet has reached the fire-side of as many different races as Longfellow. So far as I know he is the only citizen of United States to have a place in the Poets' Corner of Westminister Abbey.

His life and character were so noble that his poetry is a picture of his own soul. The boys of the United States would do well to memorize many of his poems.
