Right Rev. and dear Sir,

I beg leave to acknowledge
the receipt of your kind invitation to attend
the ceremony of the laying of the Corner Stone
of the principal building of the University of the
South on the 10th day of October next. It will
give me great pleasure to be present on this
interesting occasion and I shall, D.V., leave
Charleston in time to reach University Place
on the day appointed --
