Rt Revd & dear Sir Nothing would have gratified me more than to have been present at the ceremony of laying the Corner Stone of the University, but my engage ments here at the present moment require my personal attention. I cannot leave the City.

You are doing a noble work, and conferring a grand blessing on our Country. I hope in the providence of God all your expectations will be realized.
