My dear young friend

We commence, today
our voyage together whether it be
a long or short one, may it be for
you propitious In the difficulties which
lie in our course, resolve firmly not
to be conquered by them. Meet them
a determined, resolute hear, & a firm
hand, & they will yield, tendering to the
[illegible] the palm & crown.
Let this be your motto;

"Time. Faith. Energy."

These are "sublime gifts", of resistless
might. They will conquer everything, &
grant to him who adopts them as his
watchwords any boon he may ask.
Let me recommend the following
rules which, if faithfully followed, will
ensure success.
