will come after you rests the future of the University of the South

To illustrate its teaching, to give honor to its name and to fur

purpose, and may many of you be privileged as I have been to
look back hereafter on the fruition of earnest hopes for its welfare to
which you have in part contributed

Had time permitted I should have been glad to pay a
merited tribute of praise to Dr Robt [Dabney?] Genl Gorgas, Genl Kirby Smith
Genl F.A. Shoup Dr [?] Harrison Dr McCrady, Vice Chancellor [?]
Hodgson and other illustrious names connected with the University
held in grateful remembrance by Sewanee
