Charles Mellvaine, re: an expression of devotion to his old friend; offering to help him in his need for support in the amount of $200.00; telling of his own indiscreet endorsement for one of his communications and his loss of about $15,000.00; an account of his visitation to the Southwest; asking about the publication of his book; telling him of Bishop Otey taking Mississippi under his care, thus relieving him of some of his labors; expressing anxiety over the Bishop's health, saying that he has gone to Virginia Springs; more comments on matters of the church, 7pp. (1 mss. original and 1 typed copy).
