Bishop Polk, Beersheba Springs, to his brother-in-law, Mr. Rayner, re: his
regret not o have heard from him in such a long time; telling of his endeavors
for founding and Oxford, or Gottengen, or a Bonn, or all three combined; the
glorious meeting on the 4th of July, and the N. C. trustees, Dr. Warren and the
Rev. Mr. Curtis; more details concerning the scheme; describing the charm
and healthy conditions of Beersheba Springs saying that interest of New
Orleans and La. people has been stirred to come there to make a summer
