Bishop Polk, New Orleans, to Bishop Elliott, re: asking for a reference for Miss
Meade who was once in the Elliott's employment; a distressing account of an
epidemic which is raging and is taking the lives of so many people, and sickness
in his own family; his regret that he will not be able to attend the Board of
Missions in Richmond, discussing the Memorial Movement which will be taken
up at the meeting, urging Bishop Elliott to go; mentioning Bishop Doane and
the trouble he seems to be involved in, asking what it is about. 4 pp. ( 1 mss.
