Beersheba Sps. Sep 25th/61

My dear George,

Your letter to Mrs James came
to hand last night, and I am deputed
to make austere, the ladies of my family
being busily engaged in packing up for a
removal on next Monday - day after to-
morrow.

Mrs James requests me to say that
she feels grateful for your attention to her
wishes about the letter to Dr. Craik and
hopes it will at some time reach its desti-
nation.

Miss Laura White says she will
send "the Sack" or "Saque" or "Sac" to you
by Mrs. Wm. H. Murfree, and that you may
remit the price to herself at Florence if
any opportunity presents or send it to
her Father at Memphis.

Capt. Jas. B. Craighead wrote me a
few days ago that my letter to Mr Alsten
Phila. had duly reached his hads and was
now held subject to my order. I wish you
would apply to him for it, and send it
by the first safe conveyance to Phila.

I expect to have on Monday the 30th
inst. My family will proceed at once
to Memphis. I shall stop D.V. at Winchester
and visit Fayetteville the 6th Oct.
