Upon notification, the following persons, members of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of the South. _
Rt. Rev. James H. Otey, Chairman Rt. Rev. L. Polk, Rt. Rev. Stephen Elliott, Rev. David Pise, John M. Bass, Esqr. George R. Fairbanks, Esqr.
met together & organized by the appointment of Rev. David Pise as Secretary.
On motion of Bishop Polk, it was Resolved, That the Chancellor of the University be requested to open a correspondence with Lieut. Maury of the National Observatory, with the view of obtaining for

the use of the University, a complete set of the Instruments for Meterological observations, distributed by the Smithsonian Institute, to be placed in the hands of the Engineers of the University, for the purpose of determining Scientific data.
On motion of Bishop Elliott, it was Resolved, That the Rt. Rev. Bishop Polk be authorized, during his visit a[t?] the North, to open a correspondence for a Landscape Gardener for the use of the Uni versity.
On motion of Geo. R. Fairbanks, Esqr., it was Resolved, That the Chancellor of the University be requested to take such steps as may be requi-

site to procure all the publications made under the authority of the General Government for the use of the University.
On motion of Bp. Elliott, it was Resolved, That the Rt. Rev. Bp. Otey be requested to write to Dr. [Jelf?], President of King's College, for any publications connected with the foundation & organization of said College; & to Mr. Dallas for publications connected with the University of London, & any other Institutions of Learning in the United Kingdom which may be of service to the Committee on the Constitution.
On motion of Bp. Polk, it was Resolved, That the Super[i?]nde[n?]dent of the University Lands be
