Your favor of the 3rd Inst came to hand this morning requesting my presence at the laying of the corner stone of the "Southern Univrsity," at "University Place" Franklin County, Tennessee on the 10th of this month. Being a warm friend of the University, wish= ing it every success and hoping I may live to see it in a flourishing condition, equal, if not surpassing any institution in the Union, Prov= idence permitting I expect to be present.
