Owing to my absence from
Charleston I have but just received
your favor. The illness of a child
has kept me here for two months
and his present weak state will
deprive me of the pleasure of
being at the ceremony on the
10th of this month. I regret it
very much for my sympathy
is entirely with this great enter-
prize & trust God's blessing may
rest upon it. With my best
