isiana, set it down at $300,000. --
a statement which I believe has never been
corrected in that Paper. --

We have had the hottest & dryest sum
mer that Mississippi has ever known. Since
the 25th of April -- now four months, we have
not, except in a few favored spots, had a
rain that would wet the ground to the depth
of one inch. Our corn crops are ruined,
and even the cotton will prove a sorry crop.
Thank God however, it has been a season of
unusual health. --

I just had a prepared a "Register"
of good {illegible: size?} and excellent workmanship for
recording all the Episcopal Acts of the Diocese
If you have among yr papers a list of those
whom you baptized, confirmed, married &c
&c during yr Provisional Oversight of the
Diocese, I would be glad to record them
Please let me know as soon as you can.
{illegible} haste, and believe me in sorrow & in ljoy

Most affectionately yrs
