Comto attend the laying of the corner{underlined} stone{underlined} of the "University{underlined} of{underlined} the{underlined} South{underlined}," I beg leave to send my regrets, that circumstances will not grant me the high privilege of witnessing the imposing ceremony of the 10th Inst-But, with great faith in the speedy success of the enterprise, I will be permitted to unite my most ardent petitions, to those of the Church, for the future prosperity and usefulness of this splendid scheme, resulting from the pious, patriotic zeal & energy of our Southern Bishops, who secured the aid of the more wealthy laity.
Very truly
