University Place May 18th 1861 Received of C. R. Barney Supr. &c of the University of the South, Sixty 82/100 Dollars being balance due on a due Bill given by C. R. Barney in my favor on the 22nd Oct'r 1861 amounting to ninety 82/100 Dollars, which due Bill was placed in the hands of O. Bell for collection without my endorsement, and was lost by him, as his affidavit before {illegible} D. S. Long on the 28th Jany 1861 sets forth. And I hereby declare that I have neither traded away said due bill, and have not authorized any one to collect it except the said Bell.
