The Ralph (surname Symons) I didn't see in my hurried Exit. So he's to be married. According to his jocular sergeant, Ralph's personal feelings are incidental. They take any credit for his conquest, and Ralph's as good as married. I wish I could be then on leave to see it but no such hope methinks.

Excuse the writing I'm evading rigorous blackout orders & I've a lamp casting light everywhere despite the cloth & blanket over the lamp & my head. Tis hot inside here.

I wish to post this letter & begin afresh tomorrow in daylight. There are your beloved letters on my desk unanswered. I'll be faithful tomorrow.
