Sir
In obedience to your Instructions of
the 28th February last I proceeded to Moreton Bay to survey and
Buoy the outer Bay and Inner Channel, as also to remove the
Establishment from Red Cliff Point to the River Brisbane,
on Completion thereof to return to Head Quarters as soon as
possible, the Object of my Orders being effected I employed
the Ships Company to cut a barge of Pine Logs and Spars
for His Majesty's Colonial Brig Amity such being done and
on the Eve of returning to this Port, the Launch belonging
to late Transport Ship Royal Charlotte came into the
Bay with a Letter from the Commander delivered to me
by Doctor Nesbit R. N. Superintendent of His Majesty's
Troops on board that ship with an account at her being
wrecked on "Frederick Reef", soliciting in His Majesty's
name Assistance. In Consequence of which, humanity,
as also conceiving it an incumbent duty to loose no
time in proceeding to the unfortunates who were cast away
and am proud to say succeeded in bringing them all safe
to Sydney with the exception at one Soldier who was
drowned at the Reef
