Sir I beg leave to state to you for the the information of His Excellency the Governor that at the time of the River at Moreton Bay being buoyed, Sir Thos Brisbane the late Governor, was pleased to direct that Two (Free) Seamen belonging to the "Amity," should be left there for the purpose of Superintending the buoys etc, since which two men have been employed on that service, and paid as if they were doing duty in HM Coll vessels, to obtain their Signatures to Receipts for pay is attended with great inconveneince, as well as the irregularity of the same, as the usual Returns cannot be forwarded for their Signature. consequently I am under the necessity of taking temporary Receipts, until their arrival in Sydney.
