In obedience to the Governors commands on 32/5358 a return was called for from Mr Hely of all prisoners of the Crown now at Penal Settlements in the “ordinary service of the Govemt." not being Volunteers.
Mr Hely 32/9510 transmits a list of upwards of 100 Cases in which men have been forwarded as above since Febry 1826, and on being required to Note those now actually at the Settlements, reports that the list already referred to contains all the particulars his office has been able to furnish.

Let Mr Hely be requested, to amend the list by striking out all Volunteers, and others whom the Returns in his office show to be no longer at the Penal Settlements to which they were sent in the ordinary Service of the Crown –
The object I presume is to direct that they be removed from these Settlements – as I desired more than One year ago –

as it goes, but Mr Helys office can most assuredly state what men of the number contained in it have since returned, or been otherwise disposed of.
What is required is a list of the prisoners now actually at the Penal Sett. under the circumstances stated, and can be forthcoming I have no doubt from Mr Helys office
