Ipswich July 31st 1852
Sir,
Referring to my Letter dated the 29th May last inclosing [sic] several Notes, which formed the particulars of a complaint - which I was compelled to make against Mr Daveney the Clerk of Petty Sessions here; I have now the honor the inclose [sic] a Copy of a Letter, which I received yesterday from Mr Daveney, by the hand of Mr Panton a Magistrate of this Town, making so full and ample an Apology as makes it my more grateful Duty, to request the permission of His Excellency the Governor General to be allowed to withdraw the Complaint and I do this the more readily, as I have no longer occasion to doubt Mr Daveney['s] Competency for the Duties of his Office, if he continue to give them the constant and careful affection they require and what he has lately given to them -
I have the honor to be
Sir
Your Obedient, humble Servant
