Karawia 1903 Thursday Jany 1
Canomie having a been taken on the slip Yesterday carpenters finished blocking vessel off in the morning and commenced to strip Copper.
Carpenters, 5 including Ah Cow, worked during the day but intermettently on a/c of the weather which rained heavily most of the day with squalls from the Westward one or two of Ah Tams natives at work also 11.30 Dunphy came over in the dinghy from Matupi having arrived in company with the Sarkis yesterday afternoon from Nusa.
Found that they had brought in about 15 cwt of Trepang with them for the two months they had been away and ten boys in addition to the 4 sent in with the New Guinea Co. [?] The Beche de mer party however were only working for about half that time.
Dunphy reported that the fish had got very scarce and that the divers were doing nothing at the last and so as the weather was bad he came in. Arranged with him to put the fish in H&C. store and bring both luggers over here.
