us to the extent of 2500 tons of best Scotch. The 10 ton coal waggons are run on to a platform and slung aboard. one end is tipped up and the catch taken from the other end, allowing the coal to fall into a bunker, or hold as the case maybe.

It is pleasant, and soothing to hear 10 tons of coal rattling past my head when I try to doze. My cabin and the after bunker are alongside each other

Coaling will occupy us two days. tomorrow and next day. It is nearly tomorrow now, the time is close on twelve.

October 20th Finished mooring the ship it is now one o'clock. And I have to arise at 6 o'c. in the morning. I'll sleep to spite the black diamonds rattling alongside and above me. So here goes. (Snores)

6 o'clock and some one shook me, asleep nearly 4 hours, it seems like 4 minutes only.

We took a spare tail end shaft aboard to day for our propellors it is a very weighty and awkward object to handle, but we got it aboard and chocked safely off with wedges. come gale or breeze,
