To the President and board of Aldermenof the City of Seattle, King County Washington: Your committee, to whom was referred the report of the committee appointed by the mayor and common council of the City of Seattle, under the old charter, to appraise the damages cuased by the proposed extension of Broadway, a public street and highway, of the City of Seattle, as provided for in Ordinance No. 1489, beg leave to submit the following report: 1. We have investigated the matter carefully, and after a personal examination of the proposed extension of Broadway as provided for insaid Ordinance No. 1489, are of the opinion that the extension of said Broadway as proposed is impracticable, and the damage done to property would be far in excess of the benefits to be derived therefrom. 11. There are streets already laid off and dediated to public use, running along and almost parallel with Broadway extension which we deem can be made of public utility by grading and if necessary, widening the same. We therefore believe that it is not to the best interest of the City to extend Broadway as proposed unde Ordinance No. 1489 and recommend that an ordinance be passed repealing Ordinance No. 1489. And in Conclusion we desire to indorse the report made by the committee of appraisers appointed to view and appraise the benefits and damages of said Broadway extension as made heretofore and heartily concur therein. Respectfully Submitted Judiciary Committee A L Miller, chmn Frank A Pontius W H Bogardus Report Adopted
