To his Hon. the Mayor and Common Council of Seattle

Gentn: The undersigned respectfully represents that on 22nd of April 1889 he procured a liquor license for a saloon No 417 South 2nd street known as "Chicago House" That said Chicago House was totally destroyed by fire and the approaches thereto so that it has been impossible to do business there since the fire that the undersigned not been able to start business again and has done no business since June 6 1889 - leaving 10 1/2 months license yet to run - valued at $472.50 Wherefore your petitioner prays that he be allowed the sum of $472.50 and that the same be returned to him on such unexpired license.
