To the Honorable Mayor and Council:
We, M.M. Carraher and W.P. McElwain,
the lessees of Lot Six in Block Two of
A.A. Denny's Addition, petitioned
your honorable body to grant us
a permit to erect a frame building
on said lot. We leased the lot before
the fire ordinance was passed and
leased it to build thereon a frame
building. We are paying rent for
the lot and there is but six dollars per
month income from the same.

We cannot afford to build a brick in
that locality as the returns would
not justify us in so doing.

The building inspector after looking
over the ground, issued a permit to us
but owing to a misunderstand we did
not call for the permit immediately and
was afterward denied the permit.
The lot is about the only unimproved
one on the street between Yortec
Avenue and Union Street, and there is
no building of brick between
the above streets.

We humbly ask you to give us some
relief by granting us the permit.
