Seattle, Washington March 16th 1894

To the Honorable Board of Public Works

City of Seattle - Gentlemen -

On the 10th and 14th inst I forwarded
communications to the honorable Mayor of this city, setting forth, at
his request, the apparent financial condition of each of the various
street sewers authorized to be constructed from the proceeds of
the Seattle Sewer Bonds of 1893. In that communication it
was shown that, prior to the 23rd day of February, there had
been an overdraft of $7383.02 upon the appropriation for the
construction of the Front and Commercial Street Sewer; also
that, in addition to said overdraft, an expenditure estimated
at $8840.00 would be necessary to complete the sewer, making
necessary a total additional appropriation of $16,223.02 for
that sewer. The same communication showed that on Main
Street
an additional appropriation of $3217.19 was needed to
complete the sewer as authorized.

Owing to the condition in which the work now
stands upon these streets, viz-Front, Commercial and Main
Streets, and owing to the fact that there are undoubtedly
some time-checks and bills outstanding held by innocent
