To the HONORABLE MAYOR And
COMMON COUNCIL Of The CITY Of SEATTLE,
Gentleman--

We, the undersigned, your petitioners and tax-
payers living on and along the line of that part of Depot Street
hereinafter more particularly described, respectfully petition your
honorable body and request that you lower the grade of Depot
Street
between Albert and Crawford Streets]] so as to make the same
be a more equal or accessible grade. As it is graded at present
between the last two named streets it containes a rising grade of
sixteen per cent which renders it practically useless for purposes
of trade, traffic or travel with wagons; and we further respectfully
represent to your honorable body that during the winter season of
the year, said street being of blue soap stone clay is impassible
for wagons or teams; and we further most respectfully therefore
request that you will regrade said Depot Street in conformity with
the request of your petitioners so as to make the same of lighter
and easier grade and that having so regraded the same that you
plank a roadway over said street between said Albert and Crawford
Streets
of sixteen feet in width.

Respectfully submitted,
