Gentlemen We the
23d Dist direct a communication
from the Secty of the Board of
Public Works requesting me to provide
a place for the 1st new Chemicals
Assigning one of these to the Engine
House cor Broadway & Terrace & the
other at Headquarters. As the
Engine House cor Broadway & Terrace
St is already occupied and
Room at headquarters will have to
be provided no action has been
had looking to carrying out the
order of the Board. In order to
provide for the Establishment of
an [?] company Harness will
have to be purchased for the
Horses & requestion for this purchase
has this day been made & it will
not be possible to locate the Co
before the 1st of next week (Monday)
It appears to me that the
Ordinance creating the department
refuses the action of the City Council
before an additional Company
can be created. I enclose copy of
the ordinance for your inspection
