Seattle, Wash., September 19th, 1893

To the Hon. Mayor and Common Council
of the City of Seattle.

Gentlemen: -

The undersigned, residents in the vicinity of
Kilbourne Ave., Vermont, Harrison and Jay Streets, hereby petition
your Honorable Body to change the location of the electric arc light
ordered to be placed at the intersection of Kilbourne Ave. and Jay
St. to the corner of Kilbourne Ave. and Vermont St., for the reason
that no one lives on Jay St. while Vermont St. has residents on both
sides of the street its full length. If said arc light was
placed on the top of a pole it would be ten or twelve feet higher
than if suspended across the intersection of the streets and would
thus light a larger territory.

And your petitioners will ever humbly pray.
