To the Honorable Mayor and Common Counsil of the City of
Seattle.

Your petitioners respectfully represent that there are
business men holding tent permits and occupying space on the
extension of Second Street between Yesler Avenue and Washington
Streets
in the City of Seattle. That we have received notice to
vacate said tents by the First of March next; that on account of
the severe winter which we have had the rainy season setting in the
business buildings now in course of erection being unfinished
and therefore your petitioners cannot find places in which to occ-
upy in their various business before the first of May next.

Therefore we feel that it is a matter of common justice to us
for you to extend the time in which for us to vacate said
tents until the First day of May next and if this request is com-
plied with on your part we promise a cheerful compliance
with an order to vacate at the time designated to-wit:
May 1st, 1890. Your petitioner further state that the severity of
the inter has been the cause of a bad business by many of us
therefore we feel that under the circumstances surrounding us
that we can reasonably hope for the releif prayed for herein.
