Minutes of Meeting held Jan. 2, 1900
The town council of the town of Columbia met in regular session - Present Mayor Hastings - Councilmen Hellenthal. Hepler, and Peirson - Absent Campbell
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved The water committee reported employment of a surveyor and the surveying of the water site of the town. Report accepted
Street committee reported the survey by [M?] Burbank of Ferdinand Street and submited a report and profile of the same. Upon motion said report and profile were laid on the table until next regular meeting and Clerk instructed to post note to property owners to be present at said meeting.
Water committee reported regarding the fountain - on motion the matter went over to next regular meeting.
Report of attorney read, accepted and filed. Certain rebates on water rent referred to in Marshall's report which was read and filed, were referred to the water committee.
Annual reports of treasurer and clerk were referred to finance committees to be reported on at next regular meeting.
Upon motion, the matter of improving the water site was dropped until Spring
On motion warrants were order drawn on the current expense fund for officers salaries for last quarter as follows: No 115 favor Joe Hellenthal - Marshal for December 6.50 " 118 " RD Nichols Attorney 30.00 " 119 " JL Dudley Clerk 15.00

On motion council adjourned to meet Jan 9 to seat new council and elect town officers for the coming year.

Your petitioners respectfully represent that he is the owner of Lot (2) Block (4) [Joe?] Kinnears add which has been assessed to him which year 1889 amounts to $6.00 and he further represents that he has been assessed with personal property year 1889 by 2 (horses and cows) on which the taxes amt. to $3.60 total including the lot amounts to $9.60 Now he respectfully requests you to deduct the said $3.60 of from the tax list as he did not at the time or ever owned any personal property in the City of Seattle that the said personal property has been assest to him through mistake.

Gentlemen Your petitioners and Business men and merchants Doing business in the City of Seattle
And would most Respectfully represent and petition that the business is greatly interfered with by Peddlers Peddling candies and fruits in the streets of the City of Seattle and from house to house, greatly to the annoyance of Citizens and to the Damage of Persons paying Regular License to sell fruits & candies. Wherefore your petitioners pray that said peddling is stopped by your honourable Body.

To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the city of Seattle.
Gentlemen:-- Your petitioners respectfully represent to your Honorable Pody that on or about the 7th day of October 1890, the Common Council of the said city of Seattle, passed an Ordinance NO. 1513 and entitled, "An Ordinance to provide for the laying off, extending and establishing of Lake Avenue as a public highway in the city of Seattle, from the north end of Lake Avenue on the north marginal line of Bloomfield street north westerly to a point directly south of the south end of Yellow street and for the condemnation of real estate for such laying off, extending and establishing of said street, and for the levy and collection of assessments upon all property benefitted by the same sufficient to make compensation therefor, or damage thereby," that thereafter the Board of Aldermen and House of Delegates of the said city of Seattle, appointed G. C. Green an appraiser on behalf of the property owners benefitted by said extension of said Lake Avenue and T. E. Jones, an appraiser of this property owners damaged by said extension of said Lake Avenue and A. E. Edwards, an appraiser on behalf of the city for the damage caused by said extension of said Lake Avenue. That said T. E. Jones duly qualified as said apprasier on the 27th day of December 1890, and said C. G. Green on the 16th day of January 1891, and the said A. E. Edwards on the 20th day of January 1891. That said appraisers have never to the knowledge of your petitioners viewed said proposed extension of Lake Avenue, nor p
