COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE
Be it remembered that on this the 16th day of November 1881 the Common
Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant
to the call of the Acting Mayor
The following Officers are present to wit: His Honor the Acting Mayor
John Collins and Councilman Thos Clancy, M Desmore, Wm A
Jennings
, Moses Keezer and Charles McDonald
Thereupon the following proceedings are had:
The petition of Mr Donavan is heard in relation the work known
as the "Commercial Industries of the Pacific Coast", wherepon the
following resoultion is presented and adopted
Resolved that the Common Council of Seattle fully endorse
the work now in preparation by Messers Bancroft & Co in the
Commercial Industries of the Pacific Coast
Ordered that the Mayor, chief of Police and Health Officer
be and they are hereby instructed to take all necessary medicines
to prevent the introduction of Small Pox into our city.
Ordered that the Law firmof Messers McNaught, Terry
McNaught
& Mitchell be and they are hereby employed to assist
the City Attorney in examining the law and presenting an opinion
touching the liability of the City to care for & support the paupers
found in our City Limits
Ordered that Wm B Jackling be & he is hereby appointed a
member of the regular police force for the First Ward until relieved
from duty
Ordered that the Application of Moses Keezer in relation to
Front Street be & the same is hereby referred to Street Committe
Ordered that the Council Stand now adjourned
