125 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sept5/82 Be it remembered that on this the 5th day of September 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. the following Officers are present to wit: His Hinor the Mayor H G Struve and Councilmen John Collins, Chas F Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, G L Manning, and U M Rasin Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions received From John A Paddock et al for the remitting of license paid by Trinity church for Exhibitions. Referred to the Committee on Licenses and Revenue Communications Received From the clerk with refeence to Salary. Referred to the Finance Committee Reports of Committee received From Licenses and Revenue upon the Clerks Communication with reference to Vehicles and Dogs, recommending the adoption of the Same Adopted & communication referred to the Judiciary and Legislative Committee with instruction to submit the proper Ordinances From Licenses and Revenue upon the Application of Trainey & Ackley for a Retail liquor license recommending that the same be rejected. Adopted and License refused upon the following ovet In favor of rejecting license Collins, Gasch, McDonald, Manning, Rasin. Against Rejection Clancy From License and Revenue upon the Clerks application for a new 'Register for Licenses' recommending that the same be procured Adopted The following claims having been duly audited by the Council are ordered paid by Warrants drawn on the funds & in the Accounts following to wit: City Fund Seattle Chronicle Printing No 177 $43.68 Fire Fund Charles McDonald To Purchase Coal No 92 $10.00

126 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Sept 5/82 Cemetary Fund B F Lillie Clearing Cemetary No 8 $298.00 And now the Judiciary and Legislative Committee submit Ordinance No 301 the same being entitled "To provide for a partial Grade of Washington Street"; Thereupon after due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning, and Rasin; against adoption none. And now the Judiciary and Legislative Committee submit Ordinance No 302 the same being entitled " A special Ordinance to provide for the construction of a sidewalk on King Street, from 7th to 10th Streets"; thereupon after due consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of adoption, Collins, Clancy, Gasch, Mc Donald, Manning and Rasin; against adoption none. And now the Judiciary and Legislative Committee submit Ordinance No 303 , the same being entitled "A special Ordinance to provied for a sidewalk on Seventh St, from north side of Cherry to south side of Madison Street"; thereupon adter due consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning and Rasin; against adoption none. And now the Judiciary and Legislative Committee submit Ordinance No 304 teh same being entitled "A Special Ordinance to provide for the construction of a side walk on Front Street from Pike Street to Lake Avenue" ; Thereupon after due consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote to wit: In Favor of adoption collins, Clancy, Gasch, Mcdonald, Manning and Rasin; against adoption, none. And now the Judiciary and Legislative Comittee submit Ordinance No 305, the same being entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills"; thereupon after due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the folowing vote to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, manning and Rasin; against adoption none. 127 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sept 5/82 equalize & Correct the assessment Roll for the Union Street grade made & Filed in pursuance to Ordinance No 289; after due examination of said roll & hearing of all complaints touching the same and the said roll being now equalized & corrected. It is ordered that the said assessment Roll be & is hereby declared to be the assessment Roll for said Union Street Grade. And now in pursuance to the order duly made on the 4th day of September 1882 the Council proceeds to consider, equalize & correct the assessment roll for the Front Street Grade made & filed in pursuance to Ordinance No 284; after due examination of said roll & the hearing of all complaints touching the same and the said Roll being now equalized & corrected. It is ordered tha the said assessment Roll be & is hereby declared to be the assessment Roll for said Front Street Grade. And now in pursuance to the order duly made on the 4th day of September 1882 the Council proceeds to consider the Assessment Roll for the 2d, 3d, and other Street Grades made & filed in pursuance to Ordinance No 288; pending which the matter of said Consideration is laid over until Friday September 8th, 1882 at 7&1/2 o'clock PM Ordered that the Judiciary an Legislative Committees be & they are hereby instructed to submit Ordinances levying the taxes to pay for Improvements under Ordinance Nos 284 & 289 Ordered that the Council Stand now adjourned until Friday September 8, 1882 at 7&1/2 o'clock pm Attest E S Osborne Clerk Approved W G Struve Mayor
