272 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE June 1/83 following vote to wit: In favor of adoption Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin. Against Adoption none. Special Orders if the Day And now in pursuance to the Notice duy published the council proceeds to the correction and equalization of the assessment Roll for the Improvement of Pike Street under Ordinance No 375 & filed May 14, 1883. Pending which such roll is referred to a special committee to wit: Clancy, Gasch, & Manning with instructions to report therein Monday June 4 1883 at 8 o'clock pm Miscellaneous Ordered that South 3rd Street be graded from Mill Street to Main Street & that the attorney submit an Ordinance therefor Adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of said order Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin. Against the same none. And now W B Thompson tended his resignation of the Office of Policeman thereupon the same is accepted. And now the Council proceeds to fill such vacancy by an election whereupon Charles Lind receiving a majority of all the votes of the Council present is duly declared elected to fill such vacancy for the term provided by law Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Monday June 4, 1883 at 8 o'clock pm Attest E S Osborne clerk Approved H G Struve mayor June 4/83 Be it remembered that on this the 4th day of June 1883 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chambrt pursuant to adjournment. 273 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE June 4/83 From Bailey Gatzert et al for grading 9th Street. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From James McNaught et al for grading 4th Street from Seneca to Mill. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From the Columbia and Puget Sound R R Co. for establishing grade lines on Washington & Main, West of Commercial. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From M V B Stacy et al for the grading of Jackson Street from South 2d to 12th. Referred to the Comtee on Streets & Street Improvements Reports Rec'd From the Surveyor on the establishing of grade lines West of Commercial Street. Referred to the Judiciary & Legislative Comtee with instruction to submit an ordinance From the Fire Warden. Referred to Comtee on Fire & Water Supply. Committees Reports Rec'd From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the grading of Jackson Street. Adopted & Attorney instructed to submit an Ordinance therefor. From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the opening of 9th, Jackson and King Streets. Adopted & Street Commissioner is instructed to open the same. From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the grading of 9th Street. Adopted & Attorney instructed to submit an Ordinance therefor License Granted To Conrad & Lawler for retial license for 3 months from June 4th Bids Received And now the Council proceeds to open the bids for the Improvement of Columbia Street under the Ordinance No 386, which bids are as follows to wit: G N Alexander & Co. The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "Defining the powers and duties of Police Officers" After due consideration the same is adopted upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald & Rasin. Against adoption none. The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "To provide for the grading and Improvement of Jackson St" After due consideration the same is adopted upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald & Rasin. Against adoption none. The Attorney submits an Ordinance Entitled "To provide for the grading and Improvement of South Third St" After due consideration the same is adopted upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald & Rasin. The attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "To amend Section 15 of Ordinance No 383" After due consideration the same is adopted upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald & Rasin. Against adoption none. From the Attorney an Ordinance for the prevention of laundries within certain limits. Referred to the Legislative and Judiciary Comtee The attorney submits an Ordnance entitled "To amend section 12 of Ordinance No 383" Laid on the table.
