288 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE June 28/83 Same is adopted upon the following vote to wit: In favor of adoption Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald. Against adoption none. Licenses Granted Bersch & Henk for Grocery for 3 months from July 1, 1883 Bersch & Henk for 2 pool tables for 3 months from July 1, 1883 Bersch & Henk for 1 pigeon hole table for 3 months from July 1, 1883 Ordered that the Council Stand Adjourned Attest: E S Osborne clerk Approved H G Struve mayor July 2/83 Be it remembered that on this the 2d day of July1883 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to the call of His Honor the Mayor H G Struve The following officers rae present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor H G Struve and Coucilmen John Collins, O F Cosper, Fred Gasch, McDonald & U M Rasin thereupon the following proceedings are had: And now the surveyor submits a Report on the caving in on Front Street caused by excavation made on the Amos Boren Property. Ordered that the Surveyor be & he is hereby instructed to examine the said premises & report to the council at next meeting the best & cheapest method of securing the cribbing abutting said premises & submit plans and specifications for the securing of the same. Ordered that the Surveyor be & he is hereby instructed to submit at next meeting a report as to the condition of the cribbing abutting the Colman Block on Front Street. Ordered that the Chief of Police be & he is hereby authorized to employ such additional Policemen for the 3rd & 4th of July as he deems necessary. Ordered that notices be published in all City papers prohibiting the firing of fire crackers on July 3d & 4th

289 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned Attest: E S Osborne clerk Approved H G Struve mayor July 6/83 Be it remembered that on this the 6th day of July 1883 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. The following Officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H G Struve and Councilmen John Collins, O F Cosper, Charles F Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, and U M Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions Rec'd From Wm Meydenbaur et al for the removal of Fish Stands on Front Street. Referred to the Committee on Health and Police. From Thos Pearce et al for grading Fourth Street from Union to Pine. Referred to the Comtee on Streets. Communications and Reports From His Honor the Mayor submitting his annual report for the Fiscal year ending June 30, 1883. Ordered that the smae be printed in pamphlet form to the extent of 300 copies. From Attorney for the month of June. Adopted From Attorney on the liability of the City to pay for repairs to Cribbing on Front Street. Ordered filed From City Justice. referred to Judiciary and Legislative From Clerk. Referred to Finance From Treasurer submitting his Semi Annual report Referred to Finance From Helath Officer Referred to Health and Police From Surveyor showing work done by Street Contractors for the Improvement of Columbia Street under Ordinance
