289 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned Attest: E S Osborne clerk Approved H G Struve mayor July 6/83 Be it remembered that on this the 6th day of July 1883 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. The following Officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H G Struve and Councilmen John Collins, O F Cosper, Charles F Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, and U M Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions Rec'd From Wm Meydenbaur et al for the removal of Fish Stands on Front Street. Referred to the Committee on Health and Police. From Thos Pearce et al for grading Fourth Street from Union to Pine. Referred to the Comtee on Streets. Communications and Reports From His Honor the Mayor submitting his annual report for the Fiscal year ending June 30, 1883. Ordered that the smae be printed in pamphlet form to the extent of 300 copies. From Attorney for the month of June. Adopted From Attorney on the liability of the City to pay for repairs to Cribbing on Front Street. Ordered filed From City Justice. referred to Judiciary and Legislative From Clerk. Referred to Finance From Treasurer submitting his Semi Annual report Referred to Finance From Helath Officer Referred to Health and Police From Surveyor showing work done by Street Contractors for the Improvement of Columbia Street under Ordinance

From Street Commissioner Referred to Comtee onStreets From Surveyor on Improving Front Street Cribbing Ordered that the Surveyor submit an additional report thereon at next meeting From Harbor Master. Referred to the Comtee on Harbors & Wharves. From Fire Warden Referred to Comtee on Fire & Water Committees Reports Rec'd From Judiciary and Legislative approving City Justice's Report. Adopted From Finance approving the application of the assor for an increase on salary. Ordered that the sum of $250.00 be & is hereby allowed the assessor for extra services in making assessment rolls. From Streets approving Wa Chong's petition of the construction of a sidewalk on South 3rd Street & recommending the granting of said petition upon the conditions that siad petitioner make all necessary arrangements with the contractors. Adopted. From Streets on the petition of Star Mfg & Co the build tank & Wharf in Seneca Street. Ordered that said petitoners be & they are hereby granted the right to construct a tank in Seneca Street under the supervision of the Street Commissioner. Ordered that the matter of a wharf as prayed for be laid on the table. From Streets rejecting the petition of B Gatzert et al to authorize

291 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE July 6/83 Geo. Baker to erect a building on an alley on Washington Street. Adopted & petition denied. From Fire & Water Supply approving Fire Warden's report. Adopted From Health Officer & Police approving Health Officer's report. Adopted From Health & Police on D Kellogg's petition reporting that the nuisance complained of had been abated. Adopted From Fire & Water Supply approving Harbor Master's Report. Adopted From Special Comtee on bids rejecting all bids on a/c of South 3rd Street Improvement under Ordinance No 399. Adopted Ordered that the Clerk be & he is hereby instructed to re-advertise for bids for said South 3rd Street Improvement; the bids for grading & Sidewalks to be separate from those for piling and Wharf building. From Health & Police on Health Officers report approving the same. adopted Ordered that the City Attorney be & he is herby instructed to submit an Ordinance to compel property owners in a certain District to connect with the Madison Street Sewer. Applications for Licenses The following applications for Licenses having been declared as approved by the Committee on Licenses & Revenue.
