Allen for 3 billiard tables for 12 months from Aug 12/83 Claims Paid The following claims having been duly audited by the Council are ordered paid by Warrants drawn on the funds and in the amounts following towit:

City Fund Chronicle printing no $129.89 Hall & Paulson Furniture Co ballot boxes 22.50

Fire Fund Young & McKeon repairs to Engine no $4.05 Waddell & Miles repairs to Inclines 9.77 Shewan & Labrache hauling Engine + truck 8.50 L. M. Robbins removing bell & tearing down Old Engine House 151.06

And now the Street Comtee make their recommending that P. Quigley & Co be granted an extension of time until Aug.15.1883 on their contract for the Improvement of Eighth Street under Ord No. 388. Adopted

Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Monday August 6, 1883 at 8 o'clock P.M.

From Hook and Ladder Co asking for an appropriation to apply on purchase price of Truck. Referred to Fire and Water Supply.

Committees Reports Rec'd From Streets rejecting the petition of Mrs Geo. N. Gosling for the right to maintain a sign. Adopted

From Streets rejecting the petition of H. Sutherland et al for the Improvement of Marion Street Front to Alley West. Adopted

From Streets recommending the awarding of the Contract for the Improvement of Ninth Street under Ordinance No. 395 to H. F. Frahm and S. G. Simpson partners doing business under the firm name of H. F. Frahm & Co upon executing a bond in the sum of $1000.00. Adopted

From Streets recommending the Improvement of Jackson Street from 12th to Market. Adopted

From Streets recommending the Improvement of Battery Street from the Bay to the City limits. Adopted.

From Streets on the matter of S. F. Hoole for a re-survey on Washington Street Grade recommending the issue of Warrants to the amount of $638.68 Adopted

From Streets rejecting the petition of I. N. Bigelow et al for the Improvement of 3rd Street from Pine to the City limits north. Adopted

From Streets recommending the awarding of the Contract for the Improvement of Pine Street from Front to the Alley East under Ordinance No. 421 to Haskins and Strong. Adopted upon executing a bond in the sum of $800.00

Warrants. Adopted

Ordered that the Street Comtee be & they are hereby granted further time on the claims of F. H Whitworth.

Ordered that the Streets Comtee be & they are hereby granted further time on the petitions of Bell et al for grading Vine & Bell Streets & on petition of Gatzert et al to change the grade on 4th Street.

From Licenses recommending the granting of the petition of Frank Lessman for the right to use license of Lessman & McLeod upon furnishing a proper bond. Adopted

Claims Paid The following claims having been duly audited by the Council are ordered paid by Warrants drawn on the funds & in the amounts following, towit:

Washington Street Improvement Ord 369 S. F. Hoole Contract Work on grade no $638.68

Gas Fund Young & McKeon repairs to mains no $1.90 Washington Iron Works lamp posts 33. John Spencer repairs to mains 27.50

The claim of Myra A. Carr for refunding taxes paid is referred to the Finance Comtee

Ordered that the Bond of the City Treasurer be and the same is hereby fixed at the sum of $40,000.00

Ordered that the Comtee on the Columbia Street Engine House be & they are hereby instructed to change the plans of said building so as to lengthen the same 10 feet provided however the Contractors and bondsmen assent in writing thereto

Ordered that the Vote by which the order of date August 4.1883 & entered on page 320 granting S. F. Hoole as extension of time on his Contract for the Improvement of Washington Street under Ordinance No. 369 be & the same is hereby reconsidered.

Ordered that S. F. Hoole be & he is hereby granted an extension of time on his Contract for the Improvement of Washington Street under Ordinance No. 369 upon his executing a new bond with good & sufficient sureties in the sum of $5000.00

Ordered that the Attorney be & he is hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance to prevent the employment of Chinese on public Improvements.

Ordered that a Comtee towit: Harris, Ranke & Wusthoff be & they are hereby appointed to interview the citizens & report to the Council suitable provisions for the reception of Henry Villard & party upon their arrival in this city in September next

Ordered that the Clerk be & he is hereby instructed to advertise for bids for the City printing & gas work for the ensuing year.

Ordinances Rec'd An Ordinance is submitted entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay Audited bills." thereupon after due consideration the same is adopted upon the following Vote, towit: In favor of adoption Day, Harris, Rasin, Ranke & Wusthoff. Against the same none.

Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday August 10.1883 at 8 o'clock P.M.
