Ordered that the Clerk be & is hereby instructed to purchase a
clock for the Council Chamber
Ballard & Sox ask & obtain leave to keep at their place of busi-
ness 100 lbs of powder provided the[y] provide a suitable zinc box
to keep same in. said box to be first approved by the Chief
of the Fire Dept.

The Motion is made and adopted that Wm Harkins be granted
an extension of time until April 1, 1885 in which to complete
the James Street Grade.
In favor of said motion Rinehart, Snyder, Sox & Yesler. Against
the same Frye, Latimer & Northrup
Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned.

Be it remembered that on this the 20th day of February 1885 the Common
Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant
to law.
The following Officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor
John Leary and Council ment Geo F Frye, Chas F Clancy, W A Harring-
ton
, B L Northrup, Alfred Snyder, H L Yesler, W G Latimer &
W V Rinehart.
Thereupon the Following proceedings are had:
Petitions Recd'
From James Park et al for the grading of Mill Street from the
alley between South 4th and South 5th Streets to Williamson Street
Referred to Street Comtee.
From Hardy & Hall for permission to keep 100 lbs of powder
Granted upon the condition that the place for storing the powder shall
be first approved by the Chief of the Fire Department
From John T Lester et al for a crossing in South 2d Street at
Washington Street. Granted.
From Steves Bros for a Warrant in lien of Road Warrant No
