649 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Be it remembered on this the 10th day of June 1885 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber persuant to adjournement of June 3, 1885.

The following Officers are present towit: Councilmen Geo F Frye, Alfred Snyder, H L Yesler, W G Latimer, W V Rinehart, S D Crockett & Walter Graham By reason of the absence form the City of His honor the Mayor or John Leary Councilman H L Yesler is appointed to the position of Acting Mayor to serve during such absence. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Ordered that the Investigation of the charges against Chief of Police J H Woolery be adjourned until Sauturday June 13, 1885 at 8 o'clock pm. And now the Council proceeds with the examination and equalization of the assessment Rolls for the year 1885 Ordered that the following changes be made on said roll H L Yesler certain changes to be made Geo Poncin to be increased $5000. Wenzler & Michel to be increased $400. there bieng no further complaints as to said assessment Roll. It is ordered that the said assessment Roll as corrected be & is hereby approved A motion is made to appropriate $500 to aid in a Fourth of July Celebration. The motion is lost upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of said Motion Crockett & Yesler, against the same Frye, Rinehart, Snyder, Latimer & Graham The Comtee in Sewers recomment the granting of the petition for a sewer in Union as prayed for by A A Denny et al. Report Adopted. The contee on sewers recommend the granting of the petition of R C Graves regarding the drainage of theProsch property on 3rd Street Report adopted. Licenses Ordered Ordered that licenses be issued as follows to wit: Andreas Mauer for Retail liquor for 3 months from May 18 M S Booth fpr Retail Liquors for 3 months from July 1

Ordered that the Comtee on Fire & Water, Gas & Finance be & are hereby instructed to ascertain the proposed Water & gas limits & rates of levy. Ordered that the chairman of the Street Comtee be & is hereby instructed to proceed & remove certain obstruction from the foot of University Street and to eject the occupants of a building in said street. Ordered that a special Comtee, to wit: Councilmen Snyder, ]]Rinehart]] & Graham together with His Honor the Mayor be & they are hereby appointed to examine into & report upon a revision of salaries of City Offices.
