715 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Nov 20 185 An Ordinance is submitted by the City Atty entitled "An Ordinance authorizing the mayor and clerk to execute a certain contract " which after due consideration is passed by the following vote: In favor of same Furth, Calligan, Hall, Harrington, Keenen, Lake, McDonald and Post Against none. An Ordinance is introduced entitled "An Ordinance to repeal Ordinance No 660" which after due consideration is passed by the following vote: In favor of same Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington, Keenen, Lake, McDonald and Post Against none. An Ordinance is submitted by the Clerk entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which after due consideration is passed by the following vote: In favor of same Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington, Keenen, Lake, McDonald and Post Against none. 716 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE mitteeof the whole, whereupon the City Attorney is requested to draw up and submit to the Council Certain amendments to the City Charter. From the Street Committee recommending that Mill Street be planked form the East side of Front Streetto the East side of South Second Street twenty four (24) feet in width, and from the East side of South Second Street to the East side of North Second Street sixteen (16) feet in width. And that South Second Street be planked from Mill Street to the planking on said Street north of the Depot, the same to be planked on the west side of said street sixteen (16) feet in width; that the South side of Main Street be planked from the East side of Commercial Street to the west side of Second St sixteen (16) feet in width. That Jackson Street be planked sixteen (16) feet in width from the east side of Commercial Street to the west end of Jackson Street Bridge; that as soon as the proper connection with the sewer are made which have been ordered by the council on Washington Street; that Washington Street be planked from the East Side of Commercial Street to theWest side of Second Street sixteen (16) feet in width. Report adopted. From Same Committee recommending that a sidewalk be ocnstructed on the West Side of Front Street from from the Northwest Cracker Co's building north to the south side of Seneca Street adopted and said side walk ordered built and the Street Commissioner directed to notify the owners of property adjacent to said improvement that said sidewalk has been ordered built. From Same Committee recommending that the petition for an elevated sidewalk be not granted for the reason

717 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Nov 24 1885 that the proposed elevated sidewalk woudl work a hardship on the property owners as the present sidewalk is now in passible condition and with some repairs will answer for the present needs. Ordinances An ordinanace issubmitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance for the Sleeping Appartments, and for the Preservation of good Health" which after due consideration by the Councilis passed by the following vote, towit: In favor of said ordinance R H Calligan, J Furth, Thos W Hall, W A Harrington, Chas McDonald, J J Post and G W Young. Against none Ordered that Council do now adjourn until Saturday evening November 28th Attest W R Forrest, clerk H L Yesler mayor Nov 26 1885 Be it remembered that on this 26th day of November 1885 the City Council fo the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber purausnt fo adjournment. The folowing officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H L Yesler and Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, Geo W Hall T W Lake and Chas McDonald where the following proceedings are had to wit: Committee on Public Grounds and buildings given until the next regular meeting to report on the City Stable. The Council now proceeds to consider certain proposed amendments to the City Charter and the City Attorney directed to prepare and submit the same.
