48 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Jul 23 1886 Be it remembered that on this 23rd day of July 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present viz: Mayor H L Yesler and Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, W A Harrington, G W Hall and [G W Young]]. The following proceedings were had to wit: Petitions received From F X Prefountaine et al for a fire plug South East Corner of Block 17 in Maynard's Plat. Granted From H H & L F Dearborn for permission to move wooden building from Corner of Jackson & Commercial sts to alley in rear of lot to make room for a brick building. Granted Committee Reports Rec'd From finance Committee recommending that the petitioin of Margaret Harmon praying for the return of $54.00 for unexpired term of license be not granted. 49 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jul 23 1886 In favor of same R H Calligan, J Furth, W A Harrington, G W Hall and G W YOung. Against none Billsallowed The following claims against the City having bee duly audited by the Council are ordered paid by warrants drawn on the city Fund as following to wit: R H Thomson 1745 City 57.00 Plans & Specification etc Neuman & Argens 1746 City 3.00 Locks & Keys City Hall Post Intelligencer Pub Co 1747 City 132.50 Printing Ordinances etc Post Intelligencer Pub Co 1747 City 398.00 Printing Registration Lists Post Intelligencer Pub Co 1747 City 1830.00 Printing Tax Lists Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An ordinance authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to execute a certain cintract with the Spring Hill Water Company for a supply of water for the use of the Fire Department" which after due delibration was passed by the following vote viz: in Favor of same R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall, W A Harrington and G W Young. Against none An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An ordinance to create a special fund to provide means to pay for building a Plank Road in Grant and Eighth Streets; to borrow money to the amount of $20,000.00 for the benefit for such special fund; and authorizing the issueance of negotiable Gold Bonds, with negotiable Interest coupons to secure such loan" which after due delibration is passed by the following vote viz: in Favor of said ordinance R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall, W A Harrington and G W Young. Against none An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An ordinance to provide for and directing a temporary transfer of the sum of $40,000.00 from the General Fund of the City to the Grant Street plank road fund" which is passed by the following vote viz: in Favor of same

Against none An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An ordinance authorizing the mayor and Clerk to execute a contract with the Sunset Telephone & Telegraph Company to provide the City of Seattle with a Fire Alarm System and apparatus" passed by the following vote: in Favor of same Calligan, Furth, Harrington, Hall and Young. Against none An Ordinance is submitted by the Clerk entitled "A special ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which is passed by the following vote: in Favor of same Calligan, Furth, Harrington, Hall and Young. Against none Ordered that Council Adjourn until Monday July 26 at 8 o'clock pm H L Yesler, mayor attest W R Forrest, clerk Jul 26 1886 Be it remembered that on this 26th day of July 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor H L Yesler and Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall, T W Lake and J J Post. Whereupon the following proceedings are had to wit: And now the Council proceeds to examine and equalize the assessment roll for the year 1886 in accordance with law. Ordered that the following changes be made in said roll H H Pease reduced on personal property from $625. to $25 account mortgage
