61 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jul 30 1886 An ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled ''An Ordinance authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to execute a contract with E B Downing & Co for the issueance and sale of negotiable Gold Bonds to the amount of $20,000.00 to be paid out of the Grant Street Plank Road Fund" which upon due consideration is passed by the following vote, viz: Ayes R H Calligan, J Furth, W A Harrington, T W Lake, Chas McDonald, J J Post & G W Young. Noes none An ordinance is submitted by Councilman J Furth entitled ''An Ordinance governing the traffic in intoxicating liquors within the Ciity of Seattle" which after discussion is placed on its final passage and rejected by the following vote, Ayes J Furth, W A Harrington, Chas McDonald, J J Post & G W Young. Noes R H Calligan and T W Lake An ordinance is submitted by the City Clerk entitled ''A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which is passed by the following vote, viz: Ayes R H Calligan, J Furth, W A Harrington, T W Lake, Chas McDonald, J J Post & G W Young. Noes none Ordered that Council Adjourn until 3 o'clock PM Tomorrow Saturday July 31st 1886 H L Yesler, mayor Attest W R Forrest, clerk Jul 31 1886 Be it remembered that on this 31st day of July 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. 62 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Jul 31 1886 On motion the tax for the year 1886, is fixed as follows: For General Municipal purposes 1&1/2 mills For Road Fundpurposes 3 mills For Fire Fund purposes 1&1/2 mills For Gas Fund purposes 2 mills For Water fund purposes 1 mills total 9 mills Road Poll tax $4.00 Bills Allowed The folowing claims against the city having been duy audited and allowed by the Council are ordered paid by warrants drawn on the several funds as following viz: R H Thomson #1819 City 96.00 surveying Police Force #1820 to 1833 City 968.50 surveying W H Pumphrey #1834 City 26.00 Stationary etc J M McFarland #1349 Road 56.25 H Rosteen #1350 Road 54.00 Harrington & Smith #880 Fire 1.75 Brooms & Wick for #1 Claim of Michael Maloney for Labor on Sewer $8.85 rejected Petitions for Licenses Referred Wm Gross, Grubb & Johnson Fred Gasch Ordinances An ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled ''An Ordinance to assess and levy taxes for General and Special Municipal purposes for the year 1886" which upon due consideration is passed by the following vote, Ayes R H Calligan, J Furth, W A Harrington, G W Hall, T W Lake, Chas McDonald, J J Post and G W Young. Noes none
