219 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jun 20 1887 which is passed by the following vote viz: Ayes Furth, Frink, Lake, Hinckley, Russell & Reitze noes none. Ordered that the Council do now adjourn Approved W H Shoudy mayor Atterst W R Forrest clerk Jul 1 1887 Be it remembered that on this 1st day of July 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present, viz: Mayor W H Shoudy and Councilmen Coulter, Furth, Frink, Green, Hinckley, Lake, Russell & Reitze The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Thereupon the following proceedigngs are had to wit: Petitions & Communications Rec'd Petition of H L Yesler & Others to grade Mill Street from a point between Fourth and Fifth Streets to Williamson St Read and Referred to the Street Committee and the City surveyor instructed to establish the grade of Mill Street Petition of A Slorah & others to open Sixth Street in Pontius Addition from Lake Street to Battery Street Read & referred to the Street Committee Petition of R C Crawford & others asking the City to furnish petitioners 240 feet of 18 inch sewer pipe for alley in Block 61 Denny's Addition, petitioners agreeing to lay said pipe at their own expense. Read and referred to Committee on Sewers and Drainage. Remonstrance of Wm Renton & others against Seventh Street assessment Roll under Ordinance No 829. Tabled.

Report from City Treasurer read and referred to Finance Com. Committee Reports Received From Street committee granting petition of W A Steves for permission to erect a two story wooden building on Lot 1 Block 10 Maynard's Plat Adopted From Street Commmittee rejecting petitions of Nicholas George and Andrew Castro for permission to erect fish stands at the foot of Columbia Street Adopted From Street Committee laying on the table petitions of Toklas & Singerman & others in regard to fish stands foot of Columbia Street Adopted. Report from Street Committee on propositionof Seattle Cable Road & Water Co recommending that the same be accepted and a franchise granted the company for 25 years and City Attorney directed to draw an ordinance granting such franchise. Adopted. Report from Street Committee granting the petitionof Thos Burke and others to grade Madison Street fromthe end of the present grade to the City limits and build a sidewalk thereon and recommending that a new grade be established as provided by an ordinance herewith submitted. Adopted

221 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jul 1 1887 Report for Fire & Water Committee on communication of Chief of Fire Department regarding the Telephone Fire Alarm system recommending that the telephone wires connected with the Fire Alarm System be changed as suggested in said communication. Street Committee given until the next regular meeting to report upon the widening of Second Street and South 3rd Street Ordered that the alley on Block 18 Maynard's Plat be opened and the Street Commissioner directed to make the said alley passable for teams. Ordinance 809 On motion theorder of business is suspended and an ordinance entitles "An Ordinance to widen extend and establish Second Street in the City of Seattle W T and to provide for the condemnation of real estate necessary therefor" is introduced and after due considation is passed bythe following vote, viz: In favor of the same Furth, Frink, Coulter, Lake, Russell & Reitze. Noes T D Hinckley Applications for Liquor Licenses Referred Melhorn & Probst, Fred Schollp, Wm Garrett, H Carson Chas Norager, Geo Meister and J K Myers Licenses Ordered Issuec Richard Pritchard, Beede & Sinclair, Chas F O'Hara, Becker & Fox, Blanchard & Campbell. By full vote.
