254 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Aug 9 1887 the assessment of SamuelW Russell Ordered that A M Gilman be reduced on personal property from $4000 to $2735. Ordered that J Furth be reduced on personal property from $46,750 to $12,200 account mortgages wrongfully assessed. Ordered that the Council do now adjourn until Tomorrow at 7:30 o'clock PM Approved J Furth acting mayor Attest W R Forrest clerk. Aug 10 1887 Be it remembered that on this 10th day of August 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following officers are present to wit: Acting Mayor J Furth and Councilmen Frink, Moran, NeiszRussell & Reitze and W R Forrest Clerk. The following proceedings are had to wit: The Council proceeds with the examination equalization of the Assessment Roll for 1887 the Following changes are ordered made. Ordered that Puget Sound Telegraph Company be reduced on valuation from $680 to $150. Ordered that F E Sander be reduced on personal property $8434 acct mortgages wrongfully assessed. Ordered that a 4 acre tract in Hanford's Donation

255 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 10 1887 claim be assessed to Chas Neff and the same stricken from Clarence Hanford's assessment. Ordered that Charles Winters be assessed withLot 3 Block 74 A A Denny's and the same be stricken form Clarence Hanford's assessment. Ordered that Lot 3 Block 16 D T Denny's 1st Addn be assessed to Hiram Burnett at a valuation of $250. the same having been left off the roll by the assessor. Application of Robert Fitzhenry for reduction on account of mortgage referred to City Attorney. Ordered that lots 3,4,5,6,7,8 in Block 20 Eden Addn be assessed to W S Harrington and the same stricken from E S Osborn assessment. Ordered that E S Osborn be reduced in Block 10 Hanford's addition to South Seattle from $600. to $180. Ordered that the Estate of J T Jordan deceased be assessed with $6302 on mortgages and that E S Osborn &O C Shorey guardians of said estate have each $3551, stricken from his personal propertery being the same mortgage. Ordered that Carrie B Hopkins be reduced on improvements onLot 7 Block D A A Denny's from $3500 to $11250 , & Lot 8 Block D from $750 to $#00. Ordered W H Llewellyn be reduced on personal property $450 the same being a double assessment. Ordered that Lots 5 & 6 in Bolck 41 D S Maynard's be assessed to W P Boyd the same having beenomitted by assr.

Ordered that Boyd Poncin & Young $755 on personal property acct mortgage wrongfully assessed. Ordered that Boyd & Poncin be reduced $218 on personal property the saem being an old mortgage. Ordered that R C Boyd be reduced on personal property $800 acct mortgage wrongfully assessed. Ordered that Lot 10 Block 18 Eades & Knight's Addn be assessed to J T Thompson the same having been omitted by the assessor. Also that Lots 1, 2, 3, 11 & 12 Block 18 Eades & Knight's Addition be assessed to J I Thompson and the same stricken from E J Dawne's asst. Ordered that George Misener be reduced on personal property $600 and on Improvements on Lot 3 Block 21 A A Denny's Addn from $1000 to $300; and that he be raised on Improvements on Lot 2 Block 21 A A Denny's from $100 to $50.00 Ordered that Lots 7 & 8 B 26 North Seattle Addn be reduced from $550. & $600 to $500 each and assesssed to N H Latimer and stricken from D T Denny's list Also that Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 Block 2 Jackson St Addn be assessed toN H Latimer and stricken from R H Denny's list. Ordered that Ada W Anderson be assessed on easterly one third of lots 5 & 6 Block 94 Terry's 2nd addn $310 instead of thwo thirds of said lots valued at $610.

257 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 10 1887 Ordered that James Dougan be reduced on personal property from $1286 to $389. account mortgages wrongfully assessed. Ordered that Lots 10, 11 & 12 Block 12 Geo Kinnear's addn be assessed to Lucy Kinkead Lyon and stricken form Geo Kinnear's assessment. Ordered that James M Colman be reduced on Block L Terry's 3rd Addn from $126,000 to $104,000.00 Also reduced on Improvements on Lots q, 2, 3 & 4 Blk 28 Boren's from $6500 to $5000. Ordered that C H Hanford be reduced on personal property from $7300 to $1450. account mortgages wrongfully assessed; and that he be assessed $200 on a mortgage assessby error to F E Sander who has been credited therefor. Ordered that Lots 6 & 7 Block 13 Union addition be assessed to C H Hanford and the same stricken from Malern McDonald's list; and that the West 24 feet of Lot 12 Block 3 Heirs Sarah A Bell's 3rd addn be assessed to C H Hanford, trustee and the same stricken from John Glen's assessment. Ordered that A PHoteling & Co be reduced on personal property $817 account mortgage wrongfully assessed. Ordered that B F Briggs be reduced on personal property 6585 account mortgages wrongfully assessed; and that the double assessment of Lots 1 & 4 Block 50 Terry's 1st addn be corrected. Ordered that Eleven twentieths of Lot 4 Block B A A Denny's 1st addn be assessed to Richd Holyoke at a valuation of $2065 the same having been omitted by the assessor.

258 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Aug 10 1887 Ordered that Richard Holyoke be reduced on Eleven-twentieths of Lots 1 & 5 if BLock "B" A A Denny's 1st Addition from $3500 each to $2065 each and Lot 8 Block "B" from $5000 to $2065 Ordered that Chas Craig be reduced on 1/4 of Lots 1,4 & 5 Block "B" A A Denny's 1st Addn from $1750 each to $940 each and on Lot 8 same block from 2500 to $940. Ordered that Robt Knipe be reduced on one-fifth of Lots 1, 4 & 5 Block "B" A A Denny's 1st Addn from 1400 each to $750 each and on Lot 8 same block from $2000 to $750. And on Lots 5 & 6 Block C Bell's 3rd Addn from 13,500 to 900 and that he be assessed 500 for improvements on lots 5 & 6 $500 the same having been omitted by the assessor. Ordered that $1775 personal propertybe stricken from roll assessed against Mrs S B Stewart she being a non-rasident. Ordered that Lot 3 Block 67 Terry's 1st addn be assessed to R S Green at $550. omitted by assessor. Ordered that Lot 4 Block 50 Terry's 1st Addn be assessed to A F Naher and stricken from A M Nahers list and the $200 improvements on Lot 5 Block 50 be stricken from the roll there being no improvements on said lot. Ordered that C H Hanford be reduced onImprovements on Lot 7 Block 77 Denny's Eastern
