260 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Aug 10 1887 from Yesler & McGilvera assessment. Ordered that Emily M McGilvera be reduced personal property form $3300. to $200acct mortgages wrongfully assessed. Ordered that J J McGilvera be reduced on personal property from $1635 to $100. Ordered that the Council do now adjourn until Friday August 12th 1887 at 7:30 o'clock PM Approved J Furth acting mayor Attest W R Forrest clerk Aug 12 1887 Be it remembered that on this 12th day of Aug 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following officers are present to wit: Acting Mayor J Furth and Councilmen Frink, Moran, Neisz,Russell & Reitze and W R Forrest Clerk. The following proceedings are had to wit: The Council continues with the examination and equalization of the Assessment Roll for the year 1887 and the Following changes are made. Ordered that Thomas C Van Nuys be reduced on Block 21 Maynard's from $9100 t0 $4000. Ordered that James W Smith be reduced on personal property {Bijou Theater} from $3000 to $1500 Ordered that D H Gilman be reduced on personal property $5439.25 acct mortgages improperly assessed.

261 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 12 1887 Ordered that W G Latimer be reduced 2000 on personal property. Ordered that Herschberg Bros be reduced on personal property from $15,000 to $7000 Ordered that Lot 6 Block 37 A A Denny's Addn be assessed to John Leary trustee at a valuation of $1899. with improvements at $250 and the same stricken from John Leary (real estate agent) asst Ordered that Robert Fitzhenry be reduced on personal property $700. Ordered that Frauenthal Bros be reduced on personal property $1700 acct mortgages wrongfully assessed and that they be reduced on Lot 1 Block10 Boren's the same being a vacant lot $20 Also that Lot 5 Block 61 A A Denny's be assessed to them and same stricken from Isidoro Manheim & B Neustadters asst 1/2 from each. Ordered that the Washington Iron Works be reduced on personal property $8982 account mortgages improperly assesed. Ordered that Lots 4 & 21 Block E Phinney's Addn Lot 12 Block 49 Seattle Homestead be assessed to J M Frink and the same stricken from J C Connors assessment. Ordered that James Nugent be reduced onpersonal property from $7000 to $1500 and that Lots 3 & 4 Block 46 Maynard's be assessed to him and stricken from B F Briggs lists.

Ordered that Bailey Gatzert be reduced on personal property $18,942.61 acct mortgages improperly assesseed. Ordered that Lot 11 Block 48 D T Denny's 3rd Addn be assessed to George Startup at a valuation of $350 with improvements $200 & perosonal property $305 the same having been omitted by the assessor. Ordered that Nellie C Cheasty be reduced on personal property from $520 to $250.. Ordered that Lot 6 Block 22 T Hanford's Addn be assessed to Mrs F S Nickels at a valuation of $50. the same having been omitted by the assessor. Ordered that Lots 6 & 7 Block 66 Terry's Addn be assessed to Mary Ann Welch and strike same from assessment of Mary A McGreany. Ordered that Lot 2 Block South Seattle be assessed to James Welch and strike sae for Geo Eggert and that Lot Block 20 South Seattle be assesses to Jame Welch and stricken from Julia Welch. 263 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 12 1887 to J A Wirth on the roll and that the followwing described piece of land to wit: Commencing at N E Corner of S W 1/4 of SE 1/4 of Sec 20 T 25 N of R 4 E. & running thence South 20 rods, thence West 531/3 rods, thence N 20 Rods thence E to place of beginning containing 62/3 acres of land to assessed to said J A Wirth it having been omitted by the assessor. Ordered that Lots 3, 4, 5, 7 & 8 in Block 9 Plummer's Addn in Block 9 and 1/2 of Blocks 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, & 17 J C Kinnear's Addition be assessed to Geo F Dearborn the same having been omitted by the assessor That lots 1, 2, 7 & 8 Block 2 & all of Block 3 Plummers Addn be assessed toGeo F Dearborn and stricken from L F & Geo Dearborns list. Ordered that the application of Ursula Wyckoff to be reduced on personal property $16,000 she being a non-resident be rejected. Ordered that the name of John Mitchell on page 2 changed of John Mitchel and that Lots 5 & 8 Block 51 be changed to Block 57 Ordered that Lot 8 Block 1 Plummer's addn be assessed to W F Dearborn and stricken from L F & Geo Dearborn assessment. Ordered that Wm D Wood be reduced on personal property $800 account mortgage imporperly assessed. Ordered that M & K Gottstein be reduced on personal property $1050. Ordered that F G Strange be reduced on E 1/2 Lots 7 & 8 Block 2 Eastern Addition from $300 each to $150 each.

Block Y Bell's 4th Addn and Lots 1 & 2 Block 17 Denny's Ex to Bell and Denny be assessed to D Rohlfs and strike same from W N Bells assessment. And add $600 improvements on lot 1 above.
