Ordered that Council do now adjourn until Friday Evening August 19th at 8 o'clock Approved J Furth acting mayor Attest W R Forrest clerk Aug 19 1887 Be it remembered that on this 17th day of August A D 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law and The following officers are present to wit: Acting Mayor J Furth and Councilmen Frink, Green, Moran, Neisz, Russell & Reitze, and W R Forrest Clerk. On motion of Councilman Reitze the reading of the minutes is suspended. Petitions etc. Petition of O Jacobs & Others for the opening Depot Street from Banner to Broadway, and the condemnation of property necessary thereof read and referred to Street committee. From Puguet Sound Improvement Co praying that the Ordinance establishing the grade of Pike Street changed to conform with the present grade, read and referred to Street Committee. From Davidson & Grubb praying for permission to transfer liquor license from the Blue Front Saloon to the Villard House read & on motion granted. Petitonof J D Lowman for theopening of Eleventh Street from Columbia Street to Madison Street

273 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 19 1887 and on motion granted. Petition of B Bagley & others for the opening and improvement of High Street, read and referred to St. Com. Petition of Charles Hart for the correction of a certain tax title read and referred to City Atty. Communication form Capt F J Burns declining to serve as one of the appraisers for Second Street improvement. Read and ordered filed. Petition of Lake Shore and Eastern R R for right of way across Columbia Street read and referred to Com. on Harbor & Wharves. Petition of Teamsters & Drayman asking for amendments of ordinance licensing & Regulating vehicles, read & Referred to Committee on License and Revenue. Petition of Huesah Kaufman, Rufus Willard & Edward L Smith for permission to relay sidewalk on Seventh Street. Read and on motion granted. Committee & Other Reports Rec'd Report of CIty Surveyor submitting estimate of the cost of constructing sewer in Columbia Street from Twelfth Street to Front Street (3500) read and submitted to the Committee on Sewers & Drainage. Verbal report from Judiciary Committee on petition of R H Thomson for damages account Mill Street grade stating that thus far the Committee had been unable to agree with Mr Thomson & Recommending that procedure as set in the city Charter pertaining to such cases be followed. By request of the Atty for Mr Thomson the matter is referred to the Committee.
