294 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Sep 6 1887 Seattle W T September 6th 1887 Councilmet on this day in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. the following officers are present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor Thos T Minor and Councilmen J Furth, J M Frink, R Moran, U R Niesz, R Russell & C F Reitze and W R Forrest clerk The following proceedings are had to wit: Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance authorizing the Seattle Cable Road and Water Company, its successors or assigns to construct, operate and maintain a street rail road in the City of Seattle". On motion Councilman Reitze the ordinance is read section by section. After consideration and discussion of said ordinance on motion of Councilman Furth's final action on the Same is postponed until the next regular meeting of the council. Ordered that the Council do now adjourn until Thursday Sept 15th 1887 at 7:30 o'clock PM Approved Thomas T Minor mayor Attest W R Forrest clerk Sep 15 1887 Be it remembered that on this 15th day of September the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. 295 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sep 15 1887 For General Municipal Purposes Two (2) Mills For Road Purposes Three (3) Mills For Firel Purposes One & One half (1&1/2) Mills For Gas Purposes Two (2) Mills For Water Purposes One (1) Mills Total 9 Mills Road Poll Tax $4.00 Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance fixing the limits of the benefit and protection afforded by the contract for the supply of Water made by the city of Seattel with the Spring Hill Water Company, and within which property shall be subject to a Special Tax to pay the water rent according to said contract" Which after due consideration is passed by the following vote, viz: In favor of the same Furth, Frink, Green, Lake, Moran, Neisz, Russell & Reitze]] Against the same none. An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance fixing the limits of the benefit of Street Lights provided by the City and within which property shall be subject to a special tax for lighting the Streets" Which is passed by the following vote, viz: In favor of the same Furth, Frink, Green, Lake, Moran, Neisz, Russell & Reitze]] Against the same none. An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance to assess and levy taxes for general and special municipal purposes for the year 1887" Which is passed by the following vote, viz: In favor of the same Furth, Frink, Green, Lake, Moran, Neisz, Russell & Reitze]] Against the same none. Ordered that Joseph Green be granted permission to put a temporary building the Yesler Leary Building and the Starr Building on the West Side of Front Street, provided

The following proceedings are had to wit: Petitions & Communications Petition of H L Yesler for permission to move frame building on North side of Mill Street occupied by the Pacific Postal Telegraph Cable Company from its present location back on Post Street. Granted. Petition of H L Yesler for permission to use a portionmof Mill Street for deposit of building material read and granted. Petition of H L Yesler for repair of a portion of Mill Street read & referred to Street Committee. Petition of Wm Lurkins for opening Prince Street on Lake Washington read & referred to Street Com. Petition of Aug Bittner for theopening of MAdison Street read and referred to Street Committee.
