COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE
June 19 1888
Be it remembered that on this 19th day of June 1888 the
Common Council of the City of Seattle met in its Council
Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers
are present Acting Mayor Furth and Councilmen Frink,
Green, Niesz, Russell and Reitze. Absent Mayor Minor and
Councilmen Moran and Lake.
Petitions etc
Petition of D.T. Denny and others praying that the application
of the West Street Lake Union and Park Transit Co for
a street Railway Franchise be granted. Granted and
petition ordered filed.
Petition of McClanahan and O'Day for permission to use
powder in grading Third Street. Granted provided that the
said contractors become responsible for all damages
caused by the use of powder and that they get permission
of all residents with three hundred and fifty (350) feet of
the place where the powder is to be used.
Committee Reports Rec'd
From Finance Committee recommending that the claim of
Mrs S A Thrall be allowed in the sum of $209.00
and the claims of Geo James in the sum of $284,00.
Adopted
From the same Committee recommending that the
following claims be rejected.
Fred B Van Sann $10.10 WG Morrison $17.20 F J Gilbert
$62.00 and E L Thompson $24.35 all of said claims being
for clothing etc destroyed account small pox.
Adopted.
Bills Allowed
The following claims against the city having
been duly presented and audited by the Council are
ordered fair by warrants drawn on the several funds
