619 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sep 28 1888 Virginia Street Tax Levy Ordered that a tax of One hundred and fifty one (151) Mills on each and every dollar of the assessed valuation of all propertyincluded within the assessment district created by Ord No 938 be and the same hereby is lveied on said property for the purpose of paying for the improvement of Virginia Street from West Street to Fourth Street in the City of Seattle. The Clerksubmits an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to pay audited bills" which is passed by the following vote: Burns, Durie, Green , Jones, McCoombs McDonald and Reitze Against same none. 621 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 5 1888 Communication from G W Hall notifying the Council that from and after Nov 1st the rent of the Bell Town Engine House will be $12.50 pr month. Read & Filed. Communication from Board of Park Commissioners reporting that it will cost the City $1495. to remove the bodies now buried in the City Park (Formerly Washelli Cemetary) and that this must be done before proceeding with improvement on the Park. Read and referred to Com on Public Buildings & Grounds. Communication from Board of County Commissioners in regard to Grant Street plank road extension. Read and referred to street Crew. Petition of Charles R Brown for permission to grade Cedar Street to Grant Street to Broadway at his own expense Read & referred to Street Com. 623 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 5 1888 City requires the property owners to build sewers in alleys to drain private property. From City Attorney in the matter of the payment of delinquent taxes recommending that the amount of tax due from D H Webster as stated be accepted and interest remitted. Adopted. The City Attorney on claim of Alexander Bousinet for damages occasioned by a fall caused by defective sidewalk recommending that the sum of $100.00 be paid the claiment Ciy attorney instructed to settle the claim for $100.00. From Com on Sewers & Drainage recommending that the City Clerk be instructed to write Geo E Waring Jr inviting him to come to Seattle and offering to pay fees mentioned on his letter together with all reasonable traveling expenses to and from Seattle. Adopted. From Street Commissioner making certain recommendations and suggestions in regard to the condition of Mill and Jackson Streets contiguous to the Seattle Construction Co's cable road. Chairman Jones of Street Com. states that Cable Road Co have agreed to place streets in good condition. Purchasing Agent directed to order flushing tanks for James, Madison, and Union Street sewers. From Finance Committee recommending that the City CLerk advertise for two lots for Fire purposes one to be within two blocks of the Corner of 9th & Terrace and one within two Blocks of the Corner of 5th & Battery Streets and making certain other suggestions and recommendations in regard to the Fire Department. Adopted.
